SUMMARY:July 13 - 17 Meridian School Summer Chess Camp
DESCRIPTION:This summer camp is held at Meridian School. Please read and follow school guidance at Meridian Summer Quest 2026 for their summer campus program. \nKnowledge of chess moves and rules is required.\nTo get started in chess\, the ChessKid videos here and here can be helpful!\nOpen to students in grades K-8\, from Beginners to Advanced. \nEach camp includes a tournament with chess clocks\, recording and game review. Other chess activities include solving chess puzzles\, opening moves and strategy lessons\, endgame practice and review\, chess videos\, casual student games\, blitz tournament\, and of course the bughouse! \nWe also have occasional contests\, like chess jeopardy (with teams and questions about various chess or near-chess subjects). Students are rewarded for hard work and effort in a camp. \nAll camps are attended or conducted by International Master Georgi Orlov\, 1994 US Open Champion\, USCF Rated 2540\, with a 4-Year Chess Education degree from Moscow\, Russia. \nThe Meridian School is in the Wallingford area.\n4649 Sunnyside Ave N\, Suite 242\, Seattle\, WA 98103 \nTime\nArrive at 9 am. DESCRIPTION:Our weekly Friday Night Quads Tournament will pair 4 students of similar chess skill together for 3 exciting and rated chess games! This NWSRS-rated event is a great way to practice skills and establish or maintain an official chess rating. \nLive game analysis is offered between rounds by a coach with years of tournament experience\, or when students finish all 3 of their games. \nFormat: Game/25 with 5-second delay\, 3 rounds\, NWSRS rated. \nWhere: Friday Night Quads are held in our Redmond office. \nWe encourage you to register early. Accordingly\, the price goes up $3 on the Wednesday before the event. \n\n\n\n\nSchedule:\n\n\n\n\n\n6:15 PM\nDoors open\n\n\n6:20 PM\nArrive by 6:20 so the tournament can start on time\n\n\n6:30 PM\nPlayers must be already on site or call ahead\, 425-345-9731\n\n\n→\nPairings are announced\, take your seat\n\n\n→\nRules review\, if any players are new to tournaments\n\n\n6:35 PM\nRound 1 Begins\n\n\n→\nSubsequent rounds start when both players have finished previous games\n\n\n→\nBetween rounds the players have an optional 5 minute break\n\n\n→\nEvent ends when all games conclude
