DESCRIPTION:Celebrate the last days before Seattle Schools open (whenever that is!) and surprise your friends with your new chess skills. \nOur chess camp began Monday 8/31 and could run through Friday 9/4\, 2026\, if teachers are on strike. \nUpdate: As of Tuesday evening 7pm\, a teacher’s strike still seems likely\, but we don’t know for sure until midnight. Please check back here in an hour. \nOur goal is to open Chess Registration around 5 pm prior to each additional chess day.\nYou can check the teacher’s union status at Seattle Education Association website and through regular news outlets.\nRefunds if chess days are cancelled. \nChess Workshop\nActivities during the day – Lessons on strategies and openings. Tactics and chess puzzles\, just for fun games\, chess movies and tournament games between students. Game reviews by Coaches\, with practical advice. We may separate into a second group with its own coach if the skill levels and ages require it and there are enough students. \nAll camps are attended or conducted by International Master Georgi Orlov\, 1994 US Open Champion\, USCF Rated 2540\, with a 4-Year Chess Education degree. Also featuring NM Joshua Sinanan! \nOpen to all students in grades K-8\, from Beginners to Advanced. We love beginners. However\, knowing how the pieces move is required.
