DESCRIPTION:After-school in-person Spring Chess Club at Ruby Bridges Elementary School in the Northshore School District. \nGrades: 1-5\nEach class begins with a structured chess lesson led by the instructor\, who introduces a key concept such as opening strategy\, chess tactics\, checkmating patterns\, and other fundamental skills. Lessons are followed by guided chess puzzles to reinforce learning. The class concludes with supervised playing time\, during which students may play with friends or be paired by the coach based on skill level. \nThe Chess Club is open to students in Grades 1–5\, whether they are beginners or advanced players. A basic understanding of how the pieces move is needed.
