Friday Booster Class (Video Conference)

We started a new 5-week series on July 10 from 3:30-4:30pm. The focus is on “Attacking the Castled Position.” We will look at the most common and effective techniques to assault the castled king, including batteries, pawn storms, and multiple pawn, minor piece and queen sacrifices. Examples are drawn from both classic and recent games. Time for supervised play is included.

Students may join an ongoing 5-week series at any time.

Below is the meeting invitation for Friday’s remote chess lessons at 3:30 pm. To join the meeting, click on the link below following the “Join Zoom Meeting”. You can connect by laptop, tablet, or smartphone. Please use a webcam setup so I can see the students. You’ll probably want to arrive a few minutes early and test your microphone and camera.

Kindly remind students to hold questions and comments during my lesson until I open the floor for discussion. Allow one student to finish their thoughts before jumping in. This will reduce interruptions and maintain the integrity of the chess session.

It is good practice to mute your microphone until you talk to reduce background noise and re-mute when your conversation is finished. Think of it as a “push to talk” toggle.

We’ll use for all of my classes. I’ve created free memberships for people. Students may use these accounts to practice their chess and play games as much as they like! These accounts are free memberships, which allow them to play Fast Chess games, solve 3 daily puzzles, access beginner content, read ChessKid articles, and play against the infamous Bots. If you would like full, unlimited access to the whole site with all of its bells and whistles, consider upgrading to a Gold membership.

Thanks, Coach David
