Knowledge of chess rules and moves is required.
Parents are always welcome. Students will be paired by age and ability.

Chess club is conducted via Zoom meeting with games played on ChessKid.com under coach’s supervision. Free ChessKid account.
The Juanita Elementary School chess club gives you a great way to play chess with your friends and learn new skills via Zoom video meetings! We use ChessKid.com to play chess with one another. This is a great way to stay safe by reducing travel and exposure.
You can connect by laptop, tablet, or smartphone. Please use a webcam setup so we can see each other. You’ll probably want to open Zoom a few minutes early and test your microphone and camera.
Kindly remind students to hold questions and comments during my lesson until I open the floor for discussion. Allow one student to finish their thoughts before jumping in. This will reduce interruptions and maintain the integrity of the chess session.
It is good practice to mute your microphone until you talk to reduce background noise and re-mute when your conversation is finished. Think of it as a “push to talk” toggle.
After the lesson is over, kids can continue playing practice games against one another.
